During my time at Four by Two I worked on Prime Burger. Specifically the restaurant in London St Pancras, a busy international interchange where the annual footfall is around 46,000,000. The main operational focus points of this project were how we can improve sales through efficiency. By opening up the space and inviting more of an atmosphere at the front of the restaurant, it becomes more inviting to passing people. It also offered up more seating from 44 to 50 covers, and gave us the opportunity to have a long bar at the back that becomes more efficient when ordering food and collecting. To support this we installed hanging signs and screens above, showing designated areas and menu options/promotions.
Aesthetically, Prime Burger is an artisan, street food brand that does not stray too far from the hand-made. Originally, the décor in the previous outlet recalls the 'Mad Men' era. We didn't want to lose this completely so included the burnt orange pendant lights and details of the period. However, we felt it needed freshening up with some brighter colours that compliment the brand's blue colour palette. To bring us back to the 1960s railway theme, we included luggage shelves above the banquette seating with clocks showing a range of capital city's time zones, useful for travellers at St Pancras train station.
